Sharpening Your Marketing Skills

When I opened the first store for my business, I expected the customers to pour in. Unfortunately, the first week of operations, I only helped about 50 people. I quickly realized that attracting customers was a little harder than I thought it would be. In an attempt to stay in business, I worked with a friend of mine who knew a little more about marketing. Together, we were able to form a plan of attack, and within a few weeks we had turned things around. If you are in the same boat, check out my website. You can learn how to sharpen your marketing skills, so that you can love your job.

4 Situations When Your Nonprofit Should Send Out Postcards

Even though a lot of nonprofit organizations are shifting their focus to online marketing rather than marketing by sending out materials in the mail, you shouldn't completely give up on traditional marketing methods. Sending out postcards, for example, can be a great way to market your nonprofit organization. After all, it's cheaper and friendlier for the environment than sending out bigger packets of materials in the mail, and it is a great way to catch people's attention when they open their mailbox. A few situations when your nonprofit organization should send out postcards to people in the community are listed here.

1. During the Holiday Season

If you would like to let your donors and everyone else know that your nonprofit organization is thinking about them during the holiday season, then it's a good idea to send out holiday postcards. It is a simple way that you can brighten up everyone's day when they open up their mailboxes, and you can let people know about your organization during a time of year when they might be looking to donate money to nonprofit organizations that stand for things that they care about.

2. When Someone New Moves to the Neighborhood

If you run a local nonprofit organization, you might want to welcome new people who move into the area. Sending out postcards to people who have just moved in is a great way to welcome them to the neighborhood and let them know about what your nonprofit organization stands for at the same time.

3. When Your Nonprofit Organization Is Making Big Changes

From time to time, your nonprofit organization might make big changes. You might move your headquarters to a different location, or you might have a change in leadership, for example. If you would like to keep people informed about these changes, then simply sending out postcards that provide a little bit of information can be a great way to do so without spending a lot of money.

4. When Your Organization Has an Upcoming Event

If your organization is hosting some kind of upcoming event, such as a local event that is designed to raise funds for your cause, then you probably want to make sure that as many people know about it as possible. In addition to other marketing methods, you can let people know about your upcoming event by sending out postcards with all of the details. This is a great way to spread awareness and potentially increase the number of people who participate.
